Thursday 14th May - Cooma

Thursday 14th May

On Thursday we went for a Rain-Forist walk. On the walk we saw a Lyre-bird it had a really BIG tail. We also saw lots of fungi some fungi was frilly , some was stripy and some were colourful. It also was really muddy at 1 lake we saw lots of beetles that could skate on water.

These are the bugs that can skate on water.
After a long drive we stopped at a lake where Platupuses live. We were lukey because we saw a Platipus even though it was the middle of the day.

Mum's note:
The walk we did was the Drummer Rainforest Walk just east of Cann River. It is temperate rain forest and very pretty. We were very lucky to see a lyrebird, although he wasn't particularly pleased to see us. He disappeared pretty quickly but we could hear him protesting for a bit longer.

We made it to NSW later today. We saw the platypus at Platypus Reserve on the Bombala River, just out of Bombala. He was very obliging and swam up the river for quite a distance diving and surfacing regularly.
We are in Cooma this evening, about 110km south of Canberra.
