Tuesday 12th May - Genoa

Tuesday 12th May

On Tuesday we went for a long drive after an hour and ½ we stopped for a play because there was a playground and two different walks. On the first walk we saw a bit of jelly-fish it was in fresh water so it was probably dead. On the second walk we saw lots of fungi. At bed time Dad read us the poem of the Snowey River. It was boring because it is very long.

this is a playground that looks like a paddlesteamer.
Mum's note:
We are currently in Genoa, the last Victorian town before NSW if you continue around the coast. However, we will likely turn inland from here.
On the way here we went through Lakes Entrance, which is where we saw the aforementioned jellyfish and fungi. This is where Australia's largest inland lakes system meets the ocean.
Lakes Entrance, where the Gippsland Lakes system meets the sea.
We then stopped at Orbost. This is where the highway crosses the Snowy River.
The Visitor Information in Orbost is in a historic slab hut.
However, the slab hut is guarded by a goose. Isabel learned the hard way that she DOES NOT LIKE GEESE!
After Orbost we went on a scenic drive along the Snowy River and into the temperate rainforest. We saw cabbage palms and lots more interesting fungus.
